Projects and programmes
A project holds programmes and the controllers that run them; a programme is the control logic, kept in the cloud, and each controller runs a saved revision of one programme.
- Project: made with New project, with a name, a description and its sites.
- Site: an optional label for where a controller is, such as “Mill Floor”. The project’s settings list its sites, and you pick one when you add a controller.
- Programme: the tags, logic and connectors. New programme on the project page starts one from Blank or as a Duplicate of another. It needs no controller.
- Revision: a saved version of a programme. Its revisions are its history, newest first, under Revisions in the programme’s bar.
Revisions and Current
Section titled “Revisions and Current”You change a programme freely and keep a version with Save revision. In the list, Current at the top means unsaved changes; on a saved revision, Current means the programme is exactly that revision now. Each revision names the controllers that run it. Go back to this makes the programme that revision again, and controllers keep what they run until you transfer it (see Changes and transfers).
Adding a controller
Section titled “Adding a controller”Add controller on the project page opens Add a controller. A JasperMate is added from its own page by its ID (see JasperMate); your own computer gets a code that works once, under Advanced. Either way you choose the Programme it runs: A new programme, or one the project already has. An empty controller is sent the chosen programme with every connector off. A controller that already runs a programme of its own keeps it, and you transfer the chosen one to it when you are ready.
Several controllers can run the same programme; a controller runs one programme at a time.
No hardware yet
Section titled “No hardware yet”A programme can be built and run with no controller. In the programme’s controller menu, Run on a new virtual controller saves it and starts a virtual controller for it. A virtual controller never counts as an active controller; how many can run at once depends on the plan: https://jasperx.com.au/pricing/.
