Notifications

A notification is an email JasperX sends when a rule on an active controller is met: a tag crosses a threshold or the controller goes offline.

An Editor sets rules in Programme settings, under Notifications, while the controller is online; a tag’s Monitoring tab also has Add notification. There are two kinds:

  • Tag crosses a threshold: a number or boolean tag compared with a setpoint (for example “rises above” or “falls below”). clears after stops a value hovering at the setpoint from sending twice, and held for ignores a single spike.
  • Controller goes offline: sends when the controller has been offline for the minutes you set. Recipients get another email when it comes back online.

Each rule has a severity (info, warning or critical) and can be muted, disabled or deleted. The History tab lists every occurrence, active or cleared; Acknowledge records that you have seen one and sends nothing.

Each rule names its recipients: members of your organisation or any signed-up JasperX user by email. Email is the only channel.

The cloud checks rules against the values an online controller streams, so notifications need an Active controller on a plan that includes them. A parked controller sends none. An offline controller cannot be checked, so the controller-offline notification is the sign that its other notifications have stopped.

Ticking “Keep this tag’s history” on a tag’s Monitoring tab keeps the tag’s values in the cloud, whether or not anyone has the controller open, and shows them as a Trend. Values are kept for the period the plan allows, then deleted. Trend history and notifications need a Pro or Premium plan.

A streaming tag is one the controller sends to the cloud all the time: a tag kept for trend history or watched by an enabled notification rule. Each tag counts once against the controller’s budget, shown as “N of M streaming tags on this controller”.
