The Builder
The Builder is a programme’s page: Jasper’s chat on the left and one view of the programme on the right, chosen from the rail at the right edge.
The chat
Section titled “The chat”Talk to Jasper in Ask, where he reads and answers and changes nothing, or Edit, where he makes changes and the controller asks a person to approve those its mode requires (see Modes and approval). Viewers have Ask only.
The views
Section titled “The views”- Bench: one thing explained at a time (below).
- Overview: the programme and its controller side by side, the controller’s errors in the last hour and a card per connector.
- Tags: the tag tree, and the chosen tag’s properties in tabs: Basic, Logic, Advanced and Monitoring.
- Connectors: the programme’s connectors and how each is doing.
- Specs: the programme’s rules, the limits the plant must keep and the agreed ways of building it. Every Jasper chat on the programme reads them.
- Log, at the foot of the rail: the controller’s log, which needs an online controller.
The bar
Section titled “The bar”Across the top: Activity (each change to the programme as it is made), Revisions, the controller menu (Offline, a controller, or Run on a new virtual controller), Controller settings, Transfer, Apply, Share and Programme settings (name, description, Notes for operators and notifications). Activity and Revisions are for Editors, Share for Managers. What Transfer and Apply do: Changes and transfers.
The Bench
Section titled “The Bench”The Bench shows one subject and the chain that explains it, in one column with cause above effect: requests, checks, the state, the output. It follows the chat: what Jasper shows or changes, or a tag you name with @. Show its story centres the Bench on a card, Back returns, and the bar at the foot steps through every story in the programme. A card’s code icon opens its logic in a drawer.
The Bench is worked out from the programme each time and is never sent to the controller. A value you set on a card is real: it goes to the controller the programme is online with, or into the programme while it is offline. The Bench is hidden while the controller is In service.
